Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

At TBH Therapy, all of our clinicians are trained in EMDR therapy, which is an evidence-based practice for treatment of traumas, both big and small.  We are ready and able to help you tackle traumatic memories that may have seemed like you could never get over.


EMDR seems to work by tapping into the processes that happen naturally in your brain during REM sleep, to help you take a memory that was stored in a painful state and integrate it with your other, adaptive memories.  If you feel panicked, frozen, or overwhelmed every time you walk past a certain intersection, smell a certain cologne, or hear a particular tone of voice from your boss, it may be that there is an old, past memory that is still causing you problems in the present.  Our goal is to help you shift those memories so you can go from emotionally overwhelmed and triggered when you think of them to being able to say, "That was just something that happened, and I survived."  If you have questions or aren't sure if EMDR would be helpful for you, I encourage you to reach out!  We would be happy to tell you more about it.
